Jodi Carey

At an early age, Jodi Carey's studies in dance and creative arts was her first introduction to the mind/body connection as a craft and tool for self-discovery. During her career as a performing artist she sought out various healing modalities to aid her, but fell under the yoga spell when she began to deepen her yoga practice at the Integral Yoga Institute, NY. Since her certification in 2001 under Integral's Director, Swami Ramananda, she has accumulated over 500 teacher training hours in various styles and has been certified in both pilates and holistic health counseling. Jodi specializes in teaching yoga as a tool for healing, and her compassionate, thoughtful style is influenced by her personal practice and informed by her studies in viniyoga and vinyasa. - She has been working with women who suffer from traumatic stress for nearly 4 years and has taught various populations from the elderly to at risk teens. She is a founding member of the Trauma Center's professional training institute in Brookline, MA where she has lead trainings that encourage the marriage of western and eastern therapies. Over the past year she has found great joy and inspiration in teaching yoga to pre-school teachers who work with underprivileged youth in the non-profit organization Project Joy.
